SEND

At Dundonald High School, we are committed to inclusive learning and personalised support for all pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Working within EANI’s SEN Code of Practice and the SEND Plan, the school offers a dedicated MLD Specialist Provision in Key Stage 3 and 4. Significant investment has seen refurbishment of the Specialist Provision. This includes the addition of new classrooms, sensory facilities and nurture spaces.
Within the mainstream, SEN pupils receive tailored interventions, reasonable adjustments and curriculum access appropriate to their needs. Pupils have access to early intervention in areas such as Literacy, Numeracy and Wellbeing in order to build their skills and confidence.
As a school, we pride ourselves in providing specialist teaching, multi-disciplinary partnerships and therapeutic support to meet the physical, communication and learning needs of all SEN pupils. The school liaises with EANI services for statutory assessment, specialist placements and transition planning, and prioritises close working with parents, educational psychologists and external agencies to help pupils progress academically, socially and emotionally.
Together, these elements ensure Dundonald High School offers a supportive, flexible pathway for learners with additional needs with the aim of seeing them independently thrive in their chosen post-16 pathway.
