Pastoral Care

At Dundonald High School, we believe that every student’s well-being is at the heart of their learning and growth. Our pastoral care program provides emotional, social, and academic support, ensuring that all students feel safe, valued, and understood. Our dedicated staff, provide personalized guidance and a nurturing environment.  We aim to foster resilience, self-confidence, and a sense of belonging. Whether it's through one-on-one support, group programs, or informal conversations, we are committed to helping every student thrive both inside and outside the classroom. Our aim is to create aspirational, confident young people who are well prepared for the responsibilities and experiences of adult life.

Our Pastoral Team

We pride ourselves in having a very supportive team. The students are well cared for by staff and work in partnership with parents and carers. The pastoral team are crucial to the success of all of our students and prioritise pupil welfare.

Form Teachers

Form teachers are the first point of contact for students in their form class, each morning, 8.45am – 8.55am for registration and to check that students are ready for the day ahead. Form teachers also have contact with parents if there are any issues that arise in school. Students also meet with their form teacher for half an hour around lunch period for literacy, numeracy, careers and personal development programmes. On Monday they accompany the classes to assembly which covers a wide range of relevant topics to encourage their personal development.

Heads of Year

Each year group has a dedicated Head of Year, so they can provide particular or specialist support for a wide range of issues that may arise at any stage in a student’s journey.
