Safe Guarding & Child Protection
At Dundonald High School we have a primary responsibility for the care, welfare and safeguarding of all pupils in our care. Safeguarding involves ensuring each child is safe, healthy and involved in a preventative curriculum that equips pupils with the knowledge to make better decisions and keep themselves safe. Child protection involves protecting children from all forms of abuse, neglect, harm or risk.
Our school has a strong pastoral ethos and provides a caring, supportive and safe environment where the basic rights of individuals are respected and protected. We care for, nurture and support our pupils so that they feel secure and safe from harm in their learning environment and feel comfortable about sharing concerns about their own or another's safety. Your child’s wellbeing and development are always our priority.Every member of staff plays a role in this. By building positive relationships and connecting with pupils, we ensure that everyone feels happy and secure as part of our school family.
Our pastoral care system
Each pupil has a Form Teacher, Head of Year, and Pastoral Leader who knows them well and are there to help.
Our Senior Leadership Team supports this provision at every level, so pupils always have someone to turn to.
Safeguarding also means acting quickly when needed.
Staff will act according to the school’s policy and procedures to protect a child when a disclosure is made or when there is evidence that the child may be at risk.
